Why We’re Excited About Our Newly Updated, Fully ADA-Compliant Website

Greetings to all our friends in the Lord! As someone who spends my days immersed in nature’s beauty – whether I’m hiking through God’s creation or shaping wood into pieces of art – I’ve always been grateful for how faith and craftsmanship can come together. But today, we’re celebrating something just as meaningful: the launch of our newly updated website at http://christiancrafts.us, which is now fully compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility standards.

Why Accessibility Matters

The Bible calls us to love others as ourselves and to walk in the shoes of those who are marginalized, just as Christ walked among us. In our digital age, that means ensuring everyone – regardless of ability – can access information, inspiration, and beauty with ease. For too long, people with disabilities have faced barriers online: difficulty navigating menus for screen reader users or struggling to use buttons due to motor impairments are only a few examples.

When we set out to update our website this year (March 20), ensuring full ADA compliance was not just about meeting regulations – it is part of living out Jesus’ commandment:

“As I have loved you, so you must love one another” — John 13:34

We believe every person should feel welcomed and included when they visit our site. And we’re thrilled to say that now http://christiancrafts.us is fully ADA compliant.

What This Means for You (and Everyone Like You)

If you use a screen reader, keyboard – only navigation, or have visual impairments like low vision or color blindness – our website works for and with those needs. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  1. Keyboard Navigation: All menus are fully operable using only the tab key – so no mouse? No problem.
  2. High-Contrast Mode Support makes it easier for people to read content, especially if you have low vision or rely on screen magnifiers
  3. We’ve added proper ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) labels and semantic HTML tags – making our site more understandable by assistive technologies like JAWS and VoiceOver.
  4. All images now include descriptive alt text – so whether someone is viewing them directly, using a Braille display or listening to it on their screen reader – they’ll hear the same beauty that inspires me in my wood shop.

“We want our website – and its message of hope through art – to be as accessible and beautiful as God’s creation itself. After all, He made every detail perfect – including those moments when you feel seen.”

A Thank You to Our Community

This wasn’t just about adding technical features – though I’ll admit my woodworking background helped me appreciate how thoughtful design does matter! But it was a journey of learning and listening:

  • Listening to the needs expressed by our community members who share stories with us.
  • Learning from experts in accessibility so we could do better than just meet requirements—we wanted to go beyond.

To all those living with disabilities: This website is for you. Whether you’re browsing late at night, using a screen reader on your phone during lunch break or navigating via switch control – our prayers are that you feel the warmth and welcome of God’s love every time visit this site—just as I hope it happens when someone stands before one of my wood-carved crosses in person.

What’s Next? You Tell Us

We’re just getting started with accessibility, but we know there is always room to grow. We’d love your feedback or suggestions on how else our website can better serve people like you. Contact me – Contact Form – or in the comments below, I read every message personally and take each one seriously.

Final Thought

At the end of a long day in my shop, when my hands are stained with wood dye but my heart is full—it’s moments like these that remind us: God doesn’t just call us to build chairs or carvings. He calls us to lift up others.

And so today we say: Our website isn’t fully ADA compliant because it’s a rule — It reflects our commitment as Christians, craftsmen and neighbors: To love you. See you. And walk beside you every step of the way.
